The short version. Ferda stores what you post and who your friends are so the app can work. Your check-ins are shown to your friends, not to strangers. If you allow location, your friends can see where a check-in was and can open directions to it. Deleting your account removes the content and account data described below. Nothing in Ferda costs money and we do not sell your data or run ads.

We use Mixpanel to understand which screens and features people use, where onboarding stops, and whether actions succeed. Events include the action name, time, app version, a random session identifier, and your account ID when signed in. We do not include message or comment text, photos, contact details, search text, invite codes, or precise location in analytics events. We disable IP-based location enrichment. We do not use session recording or advertising identifiers.
If you allow access to your contacts, Ferda reads them on your device to build a list of people you might invite. Phone numbers are never uploaded. To work out which of your contacts are already here, the app sends one-way SHA-256 hashes of the numbers and gets back only the accounts that match. A hash cannot be turned back into a phone number.
Location is optional and only read while the app is open. If you allow it, a check-in carries the coordinates where you posted it. That does two things: it shows your friends how far away you were, and it lets them tap Route to open Apple Maps with directions to that spot.
Route hands out the exact place, not an approximation. That is the point of the feature. It is how your friends come and find you, and it is why the permission prompt says in plain words that your friends will see where you are drinking. Only people who can already see the check-in can route to it: your friends, or friends of friends if you turned that on.
You can decline location entirely. The app works normally; check-ins simply carry no place and nobody can route to them.
Ferda is not a public feed. A check-in goes to your confirmed friends. If you switch on Friends of Friends, it also reaches one hop further, to the friends of your friends, and only for as long as you leave that setting on.
Comments are public to anybody who can see that check-in. Direct messages are visible only to you and the person you are talking to. Blocking someone ends the friendship both ways and stops you appearing to each other anywhere in the app.
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use an advertising SDK in the app.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect somebody's safety.
Your posts stay until you delete them or delete your account. Reports are kept while we look into them and for a reasonable period afterwards so repeat behaviour can be recognised.
Product analytics is stored separately in Mixpanel. Contact hello@ferda.app to request removal of analytics associated with your account.
Open Me → Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, your check-ins and their photos, your friendships, your squad memberships, your comments and your messages. It cannot be undone.
Ferda is about alcohol and is for adults only, 18 and over. It is not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will remove it.
You can see and change your profile in the app, and delete everything with account deletion. Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your data, including asking for a copy of it. Email us and we will help.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
