Ferda

Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 September 2026

The short version. Ferda stores what you post and who you follow so the app can work. Your photos and check-ins are visible to other people using Ferda. Your location is used to show distance and to build the Nearby feed, and you can turn that off. Deleting your account deletes your data.

Who we are

Ferda is operated by Jolt Apps. You can reach us at hello@ferda.app about anything in this policy.

What we collect

Your contacts stay on your phone

If you allow access to your contacts, Ferda reads them on your device to build a list of people you might invite. Phone numbers are never uploaded. To work out which of your contacts are already here, the app sends one-way SHA-256 hashes of the numbers and gets back only the accounts that match. A hash cannot be turned back into a phone number, and we do not store the hashes you send.

Location

Location is optional and only read while the app is open. It is used for two things: showing how far away a check-in was, and building the Nearby feed of recent check-ins around you.

You can decline location entirely — the app works, check-ins simply carry no place. If you allow it but would rather not appear to strangers, Settings → Hide me from Nearby keeps your check-ins off other people's Nearby feeds while leaving everything else intact.

Who can see what

Ferda accounts are public. Your check-ins can be seen by anyone using the app, and located ones can appear on Nearby unless you have turned that off. Cheers and chat messages are visible only to you and the person you exchanged them with. Blocking someone stops you appearing to each other anywhere in the app.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the services that make the app run:

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect somebody's safety.

How long we keep it

Your posts stay until you delete them or delete your account. Reports are kept while we look into them and for a reasonable period afterwards so repeat behaviour can be recognised.

Deleting your account

Open Me → Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, your check-ins and their photos, your follows, your squad memberships, and your messages. It cannot be undone. If you have a subscription, cancel it separately in your Apple account settings — deleting a Ferda account does not stop Apple billing you.

Age

Ferda is about alcohol and is rated 17+. It is not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Your rights

You can see and change your profile in the app, and delete everything with account deletion. Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your data, including asking for a copy of it. Email us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
